1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy outlines how Real Social (HK) Limited ("realchat") uses and protects the personal data you provide to us or that is otherwise obtained or generated by us in connection with your use of our cloud-based messaging services (the "Services"). In this Privacy Policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to realchat, and "you" refers to you, the user of the Services.
1.1 Privacy Principles
As Realchat aims to become a decentralized web3 social platform, we only store the data that realchat needs to function as a reliable, anonymous, and secure on-chain-verified messaging service.
2. Legal Ground for Processing Your Personal Data
We process your personal data based on the legal ground that such processing is necessary to further our legitimate interests, which include: (1) Providing effective and innovative services to our users. (2) Detecting, preventing, or addressing fraud or security issues in relation to the provision of our services, unless your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms override these legitimate interests and require the protection of personal data.
3. What Personal Data We Use
3.1 Basic Account Data
Realchat is an anonymous communication service. To create a realchat account, no personal information is required, although we recommend setting up a login and transaction password and binding your email for account safety. Basic account data may include, but is not limited to, username, nickname, profile picture, profile description, group description, group notice, and feeds information.
3.2 Your Email Address
When you bind your email to your account, you can choose to set up a password recovery email. This address will only be used to send you a password recovery code if needed.
3.3 Your Wallet Data
3.3.1 Realchat Custodial Wallet
Each realchat account includes a custodial and MPC (multi-party computation) wallet powered by Fireblock. The assets and data of your custodial wallet are well protected by Realchat and Fireblock. Currently, you are unable to extract the private key of your custodial wallet from Realchat.
3.4 Your Messages
3.4.1 Cloud Chats
Realchat is a cloud service. We store messages, photos, videos, and documents from your cloud chats on our servers, allowing you to access your data from any device without relying on third-party backups. All data is heavily encrypted, and the encryption keys are stored in multiple data centers across different jurisdictions to prevent unauthorized access.
3.4.2 Cookies
We use cookies solely for operating and providing our Services on the web. We do not use cookies for profiling or advertising purposes. These cookies enhance the user experience and allow us to provide and customize our Services. You can control these cookies in your browser settings, including accepting or removing them. However, blocking cookies may prevent you from logging into realchat Web.
4. Basic Account Data
4.1 Storing Data
Your data is stored in third-party provided data centers. However, realchat owns the servers and networks inside these data centers where your personal data is stored. We do not share your personal data with these data centers. All data is stored heavily encrypted, ensuring that neither local realchat engineers nor physical intruders can access it.
5. Processing Your Personal Data
5.1 Our Services
Realchat is a cloud service, and we process your data to deliver your cloud chat history, including messages, media, and files, to any of your chosen devices without the need for third-party backups or cloud storage.
5.2 Safety and Security
Realchat supports massive communities that require monitoring for abuse and violations of our Terms of Service. To enhance account security, prevent spam, abuse, and other violations, we may collect metadata such as IP addresses, devices used, realchat apps utilized, and username change history. If collected, this metadata will be retained for a maximum of 12 months.
5.3 Spam and Abuse
To prevent phishing, spam, and other types of abuse and violations of realchat's Terms of Service, our communities may review messages reported by recipients. If a spam report on a message you sent is confirmed, your account may be temporarily or permanently limited from contacting strangers. In severe cases, your account may be banned. We may also employ automated algorithms to analyze messages in cloud chats and prevent spam and phishing attempts.
5.4 Cross-Device Functionality
We may store aggregated metadata to enable realchat features that work seamlessly across all your devices.
6. Your Rights Regarding the Personal Data You Provide to Us
6.1 Your Rights
Under applicable data protection legislation, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. These rights include: (1) Requesting a copy of all your personal data we store and transmitting it to another data controller. (2) Deleting or amending your personal data. (3) Restricting or objecting to the processing of your personal data. (4) Correcting any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold. (5) Filing a complaint with national data protection authorities regarding our processing of your personal data.
6.2 Exercising Your Rights
If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact us at cs@realchat.io. If you choose to delete your account, please note that this action permanently removes all messages, media, contacts, and other data stored in the realchat cloud. The deletion must be confirmed via your realchat account and cannot be undone.
